Motorola V171 Details

Edmond This is a good phone when it comes to down to communicating to people, but when you want to download thing such as ringtones it is a shame. This phone is claim to be mp3 ready, but that is nothing, but a bald face lie. I've been trying to get ringtones on my phone all day and nothing has worked. This phone is a great communicating device, but it is down right degrace when it come to trying to download things. I feel that this company who made this phone should stop saying that this phone can do things that it can not such as download things. If this phone can download items than someone needs to show me,but it not than I feel some of the statement that where write in the phone's manual should be taken out because I'm sick of wasting minutes trying to download things that I can not get.

I was lured into buying a NET10 phone per TV ad. August 15, 2005. Received a Motorola V171 (total cost $128.00) by UPS August 22, 2005. Called NET10 to activate my phone, and transfer a number from my old cell phone. Spoke to Patty @ 1-877-836-2368, was ask a lot of question including my SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER (I’m not asking for credit why would you need my S/S number) Was told it would take a week to transfer the old cell number ???? I was given a case # 10101010 for me to keep checking on NET10 tech support web site when ready. August 29th 2005 NET10 web site said ready to activate. Checked back with NET10 to activate phone, after talking to two customer service people and entering a series of numbers from fifteen to twenty five digits (one hundred and fourteen numbers in all), was told it would take a couple hours and I could start making calls. That was 30 hours ago, I have talked to NET10 twice in the last two hours and still can’t make a call??

It appears NET10 is holding all the cards, you have my money, I have paid for the time, and own a phone that I CAN’T make or receive a call.

My conclusion, I am a NASA engineer by trade, it is easier to launch the SPACE SHUTTLE than activate this phone . It has been two weeks now, oh how I wish I had “CINGULAR” back.............

I

sherri This phone is fine
but better buy the cheapest one since the service provider is NET10 and they do not support ringtones, wallpaperdl and screensavers.I called and they offered no apology

bling 4 eva Hey kimberly go 2 http://direct.motorola.com/eng...on=Ringtones
you will find ringtones there =-)

<unknown> i love this phone and i got a great deal on it. i would reccomend this as a first phone. you will love it no matter what!

shelbster i love the 10 cents a minute now through net ten instead of the 25 or more i was paying through trak phone.but i think its a crap phone.i don't see why they wasted so much money making the screen and speaker so fantastuliffic!why bother?you can't download any cool ringtones or screen savers.so now what?the only cool screensaver is the one with the chics face on it,or is that what it is,who knows.i even tried to buy the crappy beeping piano tones they offer and those would not even come through.i get a text message an hour after someone sends it.but no ringtones come into the inbox or anywhere else.has been a month still no refund on the tones.at least three or 4 times a day i open my lid, screen is blue.have to turn it off then back on.then my phonebnook says try later.very unimpressive.to me its like buying a yugo with 4000 dollar spinning rims.why bother paying for the fancy stuff when it doesn't make the thing look or perform any better.says you can sms, internet ready all that.nope not available in my area, sorry.directions on package never mentioned anything about that.as far as these people saying shut up,stop whining pay a hundred bucks a month for a real phone.well dude sorry but maybe some folks aren't dealing crack like you and can't just piss away 100 bucks a month.i've got freinds that have generic phones from slightly different providers and they got cool ringtones and screen savers.
i just feel you can't get real support from motorola or net ten in getting help on the things that will, can ,and do go wrong with this phone.it was only 88 bucks so i'm happy i guess.i only bought it to use in emergency type situations, but now am realizing there are awesome tones available and thought the bravado boasted in the manual for this phones capabilities made it so great.but no can do.i'll keep it till a better, cheaper, useable phone comes along.and since phones and capabilities seem to get better and cheaper weekly.one will come along.till then.curse your v171 like i do and bear with it i guess.

Matt Bad phone; I had this with Net 10 for my son for about 3 weeks. Within one week, the antenna fell off. Before this happened, the service was horrible. I do not like the small screen or th edesign of it. I would NOT reccomend this phone.

<unknown> i got this phone for my 17 year old son a few months ago. i've dropped it a few times, so has my son as we were mountain biking. IT STILL WORKS! all the bells and whistles are great if you want to pay for them. he likes his phone. he doesnt need all the ringtones. he has his mrobe mp3 player for music and it has a camera built into it. for video games, theres the internet and ps2. for video, theres hdtv. this is a great phone. i have to admit NET10 does need a better choice of phones. i like their service. by the way, i can afford to get a contract but choose not to. so its not a credit issue. i think NET10 is a great prepaid service and the v171 is a great phone.

Annia I know you can download ringtones..But what about screensavers? There is none.... WHY?

Kate i think it's a stylish phone with great features and it doesn't have too many features, however i think the screen is a bit small
