marc No it won't work on GSM networks in N.A. since it's only 900/1800 GSM (N.A. uses 850/1900). Verizon carries this phone for international roaming capibilities.
a Phone has been released in US to Verizon but don't see it yet on their web site.

<unknown> don't get stuck with a piece of junk. get a different brand of cell phone if you are smart shopper. motorola phone are infested with defects and eventually stops working. don't waste your money and pick another brand
