Motorola A835 Details

Ivor Dongle I sympathise with Maxwell's problem [27th March 2006] as I tried to pass a "plain text" file accross from an iPAQ 2210 to my A835 by means of IRDA, only for my A835 to refuse the transfer and bleat "file type not recognised". Plain text!!! ASCII code!!! Not recognised!!!

No reflection on the phone, more the cretins who design hardware?

I haven't tried the Bluetooth route as Hewlett-Packard have provided "context sensitive" software with the iPAQ. Not all software menus have been updated to take the range of options from the era of the electronic filofaxes of the 1990s and into the world of the Bluetooth data exchanges of today. As the iPAQ runs Pocket PC Premium, I guess that its Microsoft who have bungled again! Ho hum, isn't private enterprise wonderful! The sooner the open source approach elbows copyright crap into the bin the better things will be?

My guess is that the A835 is expecting to get a file in a non-ASCII format, but without getting technical information on the software setup in the A835, I have no way of checking this.

Not yet having had the opportunity to use the USB link to explore the Activesync options and anything else which the data cable and the A835's operating system will allow, I do not yet know if the OS will allow the phone to be accessed as if it were a disk drive with various system folders to be explored.

Any info on this?
